Known for their Oils, Langridge has dived into the world of acrylics with their brand new professional artists fluid range.
This has been one of the products i've personally been the most excited for. I was lucky enough to visit the Langridge HQ last year and i was let in on the secret of their impending entry into the acrylic market, since the news i have been eagerly awaiting to get my hands onto them.
Upon first squeeze of the tube i am in love with these paints. The viscosity is perfect, the paints appears thick and rich with colour but the perfect consistency for fluid, it looks almost velvety as the flows out of the bottle.
Something that has irked me in the past with other fluid paints is the difference in viscosity between pigments but that is not the case with Langridge, every colour i've tried has been identical in viscosity, from Titanium white to Pyrrole Orange. If you are familiar with Langridge's range of oil paints you will know the for their colour intensity and the fluid is just the same, you will not be disappointed. You can really tell they have packed as much pigment into these paints as possible, the colours are so rich and vibrant they really pop. I have put the Titanium white to the test on a black gesso board and it is absolutely packed with pigment, incredibly opaque (as a good titanium white should be) just playing around with these paints there is such a richness, they feel almost luscious compared to the other fluid i've got on this panel. see below for yourself!
Onto the next test!
I've gone a bit rogue here, printmaking using gel plates and the Langridge fluid. I've been meaning to use the new gel plates we have in stock and i was keen to see how the fluid held up printing onto some nice paper.
I've used the Ultramarine Blue and Pyrrole orange here with one of the Gel plates we sell at the store and i've printed onto some Arches 100% cotton paper. The result? I think they did pretty well.
They have mixed nicely on the gel plate and then transferred across to the paper seamlessly. The fluid didn't dry too quickly either which was something i was initially a bit worried about as i am only using a few drops of each colour here (i think i used 3-4 drops).
Have a look!
Having made a quick promo video for the shop with the fluid, i was instantly inspired to use them, i loved how they held their shape, staying raised off the surface where i had left drops instead of slowing dissipating and thinning across the the surface.
Have a mentioned how much these colours pop?
Check out the little painting i've done below to check out some of the colour range, fully dried with no varnish or mediums over the top.
I am absolutely loving these paints, they have inspired me to get cracking again and i am currently working on a few pieces right now when i have some moments of spare time!
In conclusion the Langridge fluid range is incredible and i absolutely implore everyone who is thinking about getting into acrylics or fluid acrylics to give them a try, you will love them just as much as i do.
