Deidre is an integral part of the Launceston Art Centre team.
She joined us in 2017 amidst the closure of Launceston’s beloved Birchalls, bringing with her a profound love for art and a Bachelor of Fine Arts, where in her studies she specialised in painting, drawing, and photography.
If you’ve ever visited us, you would know Deidre. She’s responsible for our retail store, as well as being a part-time framer alongside Stefan. What she treasures most about her role is the opportunity to nurture the creativity in others, whether it's guiding newcomers through their first steps in art or assisting seasoned artists through their project, from start to framing.
Outside of work, Deidre's interests are as eclectic as her artistic inspirations, ranging from tending to her fairy garden and immersing herself in the captivating worlds of Brandon Sanderson novels to honing her skills in portrait drawing and experimenting with crafting her own teapots. Her passion for nature, travel, and matcha tea complements her imaginative pursuits, while her admiration for both classic Pre-Raphaelite artists like Waterhouse and contemporary favourites like Joann Lossel and Stephanie Rew fuels her own creative endeavours.
With her boundless enthusiasm, genuine warmth, and artistic expertise, Deidre embodies the essence of creativity at the Launceston Art Centre, inspiring all who encounter her to embrace their artistic instincts and embark on their own creative journeys.
